UPDATES – as at 30th December 2021

Pope Francis has asked the whole Church – that’s you and me – to consider what it’s like being a Catholic today, and to share those thoughts with fellow parishioners, the clergy (Deacons, Priests, Bishops) and the 2023 Synod. In our diocese of Northampton there have been several preparation meetings which identified a process of Meeting, Listening and Discernment for each parish. A few of our parishioners have generously come forward to facilitate this process, and invoking the support of the Holy Spirit, will ‘lead’ the sessions, open to all parishioners, to discuss / discern this fundamental question.

All of you are invited to join-in this process – sessions will be in the hall (Covid restrictions permitting). Please do come along to one of the sessions – either, Wednesday 26th January at 7.00pm or Saturday 29th January at 1.00pm or Sunday 30th January at 12noon – to answer the question What is the direction in which God wants to leads us.

Pope Francis has initiated a Worldwide Synod of the Church 2023

The Church of God is convoked in Synod. With this convocation, Pope Francis invites the whole Church to question itself on synodality: a decisive theme for the life and mission of the Church.

After the opening ceremony in Rome on October 10, 2021 there are 7 days between the opening ceremony in Rome and the opening ceremony in our Cathedral with Bishop David (October 17, 2021, 3pm) which will be livestreamed.  As a spiritual preparation for the opening of the Synod in each local Church, you are invited to use this time as 7 days of prayer for specific intentions related to the Synod.

The prayer can be found here: ADSUMUS PRAYER

From the beginning of September we have changed to a more normal pattern of Masses. “Sunday” Masses on Saturday (6.15pm) and Sunday (9 & 11am) and weekday Masses on Monday, Thursday and Friday at 10.00am. As before, if I am not here for weekdays, Deacon Tony will lead a Communion Service at 10.00am.
